Skills Canada PEI Alumni

Our mission as the Skills Canada PEI Alumni Association is to promote skilled trades and technology, help youth and young adults discover the rewards that come with working in this field and prepare future competitors to succeed in their competitions. We are an organization that benefits its members through industry connections, exposure,  and volunteer opportunities.

Our goals as an association are to:
  •  Promote Skilled Trades and Technology on PEI
  • Recognize & promote our members
  • Hold regular workshops & events with high-quality tools & equipment
  • Attract employers to our members
  •  Create a bursary to for skilled trades or technology students

Our Goals

Recognize leaders of the skilled trades and technologies within Prince Edward Island.
Get Island youth to consider careers in the skilled trades and technologies.
Train future Skills Canada competitors.
Engage Island youth in projects involving various skilled trades and technologies.

Alumni Association Members

Many alumni continue to be involved with and support Skills PEI, and we are proud of their achievements and important contributions. Below are some of our Alumni association members that are involved today.

Patrick LeClair

Patrick LeClair

President of the Skills Canada PEI Alumni

After studying Jazz music at St. FX University, Patrick LeClair decided to change paths and pursue Architectural Technology at Holland College in PEI. It was during his studies at Holland College that he competed in the 2015 Skills Canada PEI Competition where he placed 1st provincially and went on to place 4th nationally. Since competing, Patrick has been very involved with Skills Canada through volunteering, public speaking at colleges and high schools, promoting trades and technology at various events, sitting on the Skills Canada PEI Board of Directors, and becoming the founder and president of the Skills Canada PEI Alumni Association. He now sits on the Skills Canada National Alumni Committee (NAC) as the Vice President and is working hard, with the help of the other NAC members, to create and maintain successful Alumni Associations all across Canada!

Patrick is currently working as a CADD Technician for the Government of Prince Edward Island where he creates construction plans for bridges and roads all across PEI and inspects bridges to ensure they are safe and maintained for public use.

Skills Canada PEI Competition: 2015 (Gold) & 2016 (Gold) | Skills Canada National Competition: 2015 (Silver) & 2016

Evan is a devoted hard worker who is always interested in learning new skills. He likes to challenge himself, both professionally and personally, to be the best he can possibly be. He studied precision machining at Holland College (2013-2014), CNC Machining at NBCC (2014-2015), and is now working at 3 Points Aviation.

Evan is a hard worker who is working towards getting his Red Seal certification as a machinist and is climbing his way up the ranks at 3 Points Aviation. Outside of machining, Evan likes hiking, camping, cooking, golfing and spending time outdoors.  He sits on our Skills Canada PEI Alumni Association Committee and is an active member of our association who is passionate about machining.

Nadia is the type of person that doesn’t know how to quit, giving 110% in everything she does. She is constantly pushing herself to be the best by continuously learning and “thinking outside of the box”.  As Nadia builds her name within the graphic design scene, she hopes that someday she will be teaching at the college level or even working for a design firm in New York! She currently works as a freelance graphic designer working for companies such as: Honibe, Skyes, and lots of local businesses.

Since joining our Alumni Association, Nadia has designed our information pamphlet, newsletter, programs for our Skills competitions events and the website you are currently viewing!
